Good for specific topics

Anyone else use Udemy for niche tech courses? I grabbed a course on Raspberry Pi for about $12.99, which was a great deal. The content was really solid and I learned a lot. It's easy to gift courses too, which is nice for birthdays. My only minor complaint is that you can only use one coupon per course, so sometimes I miss out on stacking. Still, it's usually cheaper than Coursera or LinkedIn Learning.

Good React course

So I picked up that "React" course last week. It was pretty good, you know? The videos were easy to follow and it covered a lot of ground. I liked that I could go at my own pace. Felt like a solid purchase for what I needed.

Great value on Photoshop

I got the "Photoshop" course during a $12.99 sale, which felt like a steal compared to the original price. I was looking for a good deal to learn photo editing, and this fit the bill perfectly. The amount of content for that price was really worth it. I'm glad I waited for a promotion because it made the purchase feel like excellent value. Definitely a smart buy for budget-conscious learning.

Fantastic course, learned a lot!

I just finished the "Python programming" course and it was fantastic! The instructor was super clear and explained everything so well. I finally feel like I understand how to code properly. I'll definitely be back for more courses, maybe the "Data science" one next! I've already told my friends about it, they should check it out too.

Detailed course, good support

I enrolled in the "AWS certification" course a few weeks ago. The ordering process was straightforward, and I got access immediately. The course material is comprehensive, with lots of practical examples. I had a question about a specific lab exercise, and their support team responded within a day, which was helpful. The video quality was consistently good, and I could download sections for offline viewing. I'm finding the content very relevant for my career goals. It's a solid platform if you need in-depth learning.

udemy vs coursera for like, general programming stuff. Which one is better value for money if I'm just looking to learn a new language like javascript?

D Derek 2 months ago
Udemy is usually cheaper for individual courses, especially with their constant sales. Coursera can get pricey if you don't do the subscription or financial aid thing. For just learning a language, Udemy is probably fine.

Coursera often has university-backed stuff which can look better on a resume, but for just getting hands-on with JS, Udemy has tons of practical courses. You'll probably get more bang for your buck on Udemy if you're not after the 'certified by X university' thing.

Hey, wondering how often they run those big sales for like 9.99? Missed the last one, trying to grab a Python course.

B Ben S. 2 months ago
Oh man, they're always running them. I swear every other week there's a flash sale or something. Just keep an eye out, you'll catch one.

Yeah, they do it a lot. Black Friday and New Year's are usually big, but I've seen them pop up randomly too. Pretty sure they have different ones for new users sometimes too.

Are these certificates actually useful? Like, can I put them on my resume or LinkedIn without looking dumb? Thinking of doing a few project management ones.

C Chris D. 1 month ago
For sure, I've got a couple of mine on LinkedIn. It shows you're learning new skills, especially if it's relevant to what you're doing or want to do. It's not a degree or anything but still good.

Depends on the company I guess? My current boss thought it was cool I was doing extra learning. I'd say it's better than nothing, shows initiative.

Anyone know if you can stack coupons on Udemy? Got a couple of codes from instructors but also saw a sitewide deal.

J Josh 2 months ago
Nah, pretty sure it's one coupon per course. Tried it before, didn't work for me.

L Lisa 2 months ago
Yeah, only one. Most of the time the best deal applies automatically if you click a promo link, so check if your instructor code beats that before you manually enter it.

What's the deal with refunds if a course sucks? Is it a hassle to get your money back if it's not what you expected?

I Ivy L. 2 months ago
Nah, refunds are pretty straightforward. I got one last month for a course that wasn't updated. No issues at all.

I think you have like 30 days or something? As long as you haven't completed too much of the course, they're usually cool about it. I've heard stories where if you watch like 90% of it and then ask for a refund, they might question it.
